Konstantinos Michalakis graduated from the School of Dentistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1989. In 1990 he began his postgraduate studies in the Dentistry Faculty of the TUFTS University in Boston, USA, where he graduated in 1993. In 1994, he works in his private clinic in Thessaloniki, dealing exclusively with cases of patients who needed prosthetic restoration. In 1998 he was appointed as a paid enrolled visitor to the Postgraduate Studies Department of Prosthetics at TUFTS University. In 2001 he was awarded a Ph.D. at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In 2004 he was awarded the Diplomate, American Board of Prosthodontics, after a written and oral examination. In 2008 he graduated from the Department of Biomechanics of the University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom, under the title of Master of Science. In 2016 he completed his postgraduate program of Management of Health Organizations at Cornell University, USA.
He has given many lectures at conferences in Greece and abroad, while he has written many articles for both Greek and foreign scholarly journals on issues of his specialty. He is currently visiting Professor at the Graduate Prosthodontics department of the University TUFTS and Associate Professor and director of the graduate prosthodontics program at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
He is a member of the American College of Prosthodontists, the Academy of Prosthodontics, the International College of Prosthodontists, the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, the Academy of Osseointegration, the European Association for Osseointegration, the International College of Dentists, the International Association for Dental Research, the European Society of Biomechanics and other scientific companies.
